Josh Guttman

Josh is a Special Partner of SBNY.

Prior to SBNY, Josh worked as a Partner on the early stage investing team at SoftBank Capital. Before SoftBank, Josh served as Senior Vice President at Outbrain, the leading content marketing platform, where he led Platform Sales and oversaw growth of the business from 50 to 250 worldwide employees. Josh had more than seven years of experience in online media, beginning in 2007 as an early member of the team at Sphere (acquired by Aol). Post-acquisition, Josh led Sphere as CEO for two years, initiating its divestiture and sale to Outbrain in early 2011. Josh began his career in technology investment banking at Robertson Stephens & Co in San Francisco where we participated on more than $400 million of private equity and debt financings.

Josh currently serves on the boards of Reonomy, Soapbox, and x.ai. Previously, he invested in UpNext (acquired by Amazon.com) and Wayport (acquired by AT&T).

Josh earned an AB from Duke University and an MBA from Columbia University. He is a 12-year veteran of the New York City tech ecosystem, having emigrated from the Bay Area in 2002. Josh lives in Brooklyn with his wife, daughter and rambunctious boxer, Morrison.  He blogs at www.joshguttman.com.
